How Delhi sets guard wages

Delhi does not have a separate minimum wage for security guards. One schedule covers all scheduled employments, by skill level, with clerical and supervisory staff graded by education. A guard’s rate depends on the skill level of the job, so match each role to the category in the order. Supervisors with a graduate degree doing clerical or supervisory work fall in the highest grade.

The latest genuine order is F.No.(142)/02/MW/VII/Part File/211-241, dated 15 April 2025, effective 1 April 2025. Delhi normally revises dearness allowance every 1 April and 1 October from the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers. Until a new order is notified, the last notified rates stay in force.

The fake order. A notification numbered F.No.(143)/02/MW/VII/Partfile/212-261, dated 13 Oct 2025, circulated with higher rates. The Labour Department disowned it in a circular dated 14 Oct 2025. Figures of ₹19,846, ₹21,813 and ₹23,905 a month seen on some payroll sites trace back to it, with no genuine order behind them. Check any new order on labour.delhi.gov.in before you change payroll.

Guards at central government sites in Delhi, such as nationalised bank branches, central PSUs, railways and airports, get the central sphere rates instead. From 1 Oct 2026 that is ₹1,024 a day for watch and ward duty without arms in Area A.

Delhi minimum wage questions

What is the minimum wage for a security guard in Delhi in 2026?

The latest notified Delhi rates, from 1 Apr 2025, are ₹18,456 a month for unskilled, ₹20,371 for semi-skilled and ₹22,411 for skilled workers, and ₹24,356 for graduate clerical and supervisory staff. No genuine revision had been notified by 9 Oct 2026.

Why have Delhi minimum wages not been revised since April 2025?

Delhi has not notified the revisions due in October 2025, April 2026 or October 2026. When it does, the new rates may apply from an earlier date, so agencies should be ready to pay arrears.

Is the October 2025 Delhi minimum wage order real?

No. An order dated 13 Oct 2025 with higher rates was declared fake by the Delhi Labour Department on 14 Oct 2025. Do not use its figures.

Is there a separate minimum wage for armed guards in Delhi?

Not in the Delhi schedule, which goes by skill level only. The central sphere rates for central government sites do have separate rates with and without arms.

How is the daily rate worked out?

Divide the monthly rate by 26. So ₹18,456 a month is ₹709.85 a day.
